Named for the brave captain of the tugboat Magnolia. Captain Joseph Gilson and his tugboat crew risked their lives and heroically towed numerous boats overburdened with evacuees of the fire, and unable to power past the wind out to Lake Michigan. He shuttled crowds of people trapped by the fire, and alerted other tugs to assist his efforts and is responsible for saving thousands of lives that may have been lost to the fire, were it not for the efforts he and his crew.

Named for the Brave Captain, this Fuji Sagres SP came to us as fixed gear bike but still had all its braze ons. We had it powder coated Fire Engine red in honor of Captain Gilson, We converted it back into a road bike with an older Shimano 105 group, new housing, cable, bottle cage, chain and a set of Mavic rims laced to Shimano 105 hubs and Vittoria Zaffiro slick tires.

The Fuji Sagres SA stripped down to the frame to sand down before powder coating, ultimately in a similar color.

Picking up locally in Chicago’s Jefferson Park is free. Those out of the area can pay a flat fee of $100 to have it professionally packaged by Tailwind Cycles and shipped via Bike Flights anywhere in the Continental US. I will not ship via other methods or work with 3rd party shippers.
